I really like how Duolingo engages its audience. Daily check-ins, in-app leaderboards, and general humour makes it such a fun app.

I mixed on those. They're clearly Skinner Box techniques to monetize your attention, but they do work, so I dunno how I feel.
That's fair, but for learning a language, I think it's pretty effective, specially for working adults haha.
Yeah, it is effective, and that's why I don't outright hate it.
it’s really good for people who aren’t self motivated to learn or who are too busy to make a super useful study plan, I’ll give it that.
It can be a good supplement too
