Portugal won UEFA Nations League
Portugal won the Nations League against Spain on penalties.
I'm not a person who regularly watches my club's games throughout the regular season. However, when it comes to the national team, I try to watch all the games, after all, it's our country's team.
I watched both games of the Nations League final four against Germany and Spain.
Portugal really surprised me because I didn't watch the team, because against these teams I usually end up having a low block, holding on in defense to get out in quick transitions, like in Euro 2016. Just look at the results in all the games and in almost no game did they win without going to extra time or penalties.
In this final phase, we saw Portugal taking the initiative in the game, wanting to have possession of the ball and wanting to control it with good circulation due to the great midfielders we have like Vitinha.
We also saw Portugal putting pressure on the ball as a team instead of just one man.
However, in addition to the collective highlight, I cannot fail to mention the best player in the final four, Nuno Mendes.
It was simply incredible to see what he managed to do in both games, whether defending or attacking.
I was unable to get into the game and take part in the promising Spanish star Yamal because Nuno Mendes simply dried him out in his initiatives.
Without a doubt, Nuno Mendes is currently the best right-back in the world.
European team with more titles in the last 10 years. 😎
