RE: About Nintendo's $80 Game Pricing...

Waaaay back a long time ago...
On the SNES, I paid $80 for a brand new game released. The very first version of Mortal Kombat.
Back then the pressure was on pushing the hardware to the limits. Putting voice into a game was a big deal. Video 3D renders onto a pixelated canvas was a big deal. Developers had to think outside of the box to innovate fun into a game that can only fit so much memory space.
Now with nearly limitless memory limits for 3D and voice overs, and games offering discounts to purchase $60 games for $10 or $15... Nintendo still has never discounted games like BOTW from their initial sticker price of $60.
Personally I do not mind the $80 price, but it does bother me that these prices do not come down in the months (or years!) following when better games are released for far less cost.
Totally agreed!
I don't think $80 for Mario Kart itself is bad, Nintendo puts the quality of their games at the forefront most of the times. I'm sad for what it'll mean for the industry, as companies will charge $80 (plus microtransactions) for games that aren't even worth $40 will become the norm.
