Paloma, Part 3
“He fell just because of me. I wish I had known; I would have just stayed at home without following him, Sophie said without hesitation.

“Don't worry, he will come back," her mom replied.
“I don't think you are getting me, mom. He fell inside the hole, which seemed unending. There is no way out, Sophie said to her mom.
“I have the belief that he is going to come back. Just have faith. Let your faith bring back your Paloma, her mom said.
The news got to every corner of the community about the disappearance of Paloma. Everyone began to say how good he was and how he had planned to save the community at large.
The night turned to say, and the day turned to weeks and months without receiving news from Paloma. No one knew he was going to come back except Sophie's mom, who has a fate for Paloma.
The breeze of Paloma was becoming blown off, and everyone began to forget Paloma one after the other. The people of the community still have the disease in them, and some of them were dying while others were left uncomfortable. No one was ready to save them, and everyone, including the youths, still had the disease left in them.
All hopes were left terminated, as the only thing that would save them, according to the community members, was fate. We just have to have faith in God, and anytime he takes them, they will all meet on the other side of life.
Sophie woke up one morning and left for the spot where Paloma fell. She began to cry bitterly. “I know he has been wooing me, but I do give him a tough time, but anything that would make him come back would put me in his hands. I will never allow him to go anymore, Sophie said to herself.
She stayed until nightfall before leaving for her abode. No one cared about the heavy fall of the unknown object. All have now been wiped from their memories. They all now have the spirit of lamenting, just as before.
Paloma had been the one comforting them, but now they do not have anyone to make them feel at home. Although Paloma has been forgotten in the minds of his people,
After two years of waiting, Sophie had never once forgotten the fact that her mom had once said Paloma would come back. Even her mom had forgotten her statement, but Sophie still kept on hoping that one day her beloved would come back to her. Although it was just her thought after Paloma had left, before now, she did not have Paloma in mind.
In the second year, the flower Sophie had planted around the hole had grown so wild. She never relented on her mind of going to visit the hole daily.
One fateful day, Sophie left the place late. As she was on her way home, she heard a sound, just as if people were inside the hole. She had never heard this since Paloma fell inside the hole.
“Could it be that Paloma is alive? Or am I imagining it?” Sophie exclaimed.
