TCS Layoff 2% Workforce

TCS or Tata Consultancy Services is one of the biggest service company in India. It employs lakhs and lakhs of people. It mostly employs people from the IR background but it has other vertical too. It is considered as the safest company to work in India as it has never done a mass layoff before. A lot of service company's does layoff but TCS has never done it.

And that's why it was considered as the safest private company in India. People used to compare it with the Goverent job as it has the job security as that of government job. So it all started with TCS reducing the bench time to 35 days from 225 days. So previously if you are in bench for 225 days means if you are not working in any project for 225 days then they will remove you. But that has changed to just 35 days. People used to assign themselves in a project for 1 month just to tackle that 225 days. But now since it's gone, people who are not in the project are asked to leave.

Next is that of someone is not upskulling or is there a skill gap then also they have been asked to leave. Mostly people from the middle and senior management who are just there in the TCS for long and not bringing any value. But there is a speculation that AI has a thing to do for this layoff. With the AI increasing, less projects are coming and thus the income is reducing. And might be it's a start and we will see more layoffs coming in future days.

And not only TCS, we can see similar layoffs in other service based companies too, like Infosys, HCL, Capegemini etc. And it will be huge problem for a lot of techies in India as the unemployment will rise.
