Sometimes You Need More Attack to Win

Splinterlands is an online collectible card game using the blockchain technology. Every user will need cards to play the game, these cards or assets are NFTs (Non-Fungible Token) which can be traded. These cards is used to play against other players. Now every card will have the unique ability and they are divided between Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. The more the ability, the more it can help you to win the games and the more expensive it becomes.

There is a great improvement in the Splinterlands UI recently. Mostly how organized your profile is as well as it became little faster after doing some UI tweak. As you can see below, there is a clear cut UI to show the current progress as well as how much you need more to progress in the next round. Ignore the fact that only 2 days are left and I am still in Silver 2 as I was not able to play much games in the current season.

Along with that one major change I have seen is how the season activity which is nothing but showing the recent games have been moved to another window. Sometimes in the low network, while loading the recent games it was taking sometime. But now since it was moved to another window the loading became little faster. So yeah this was all about the recent UI changes.

Now coming back to one of my recent game where I want to show how having more attack is actually fruitful rather than having other options. So in the below match, it is a low mana game I.e. only 13 mana. Now the opponent has tried to use a lot of options in his attack, like heal, deflect as well as shield. Now these options are actually great because when you use heal you gain your health and in low mana game you need more health.

Similarly having deflect is also great to have because the options were explosive weaponry and the deflect protects it. So overall it was a lot of good options to play with. But there is one thing lacking, that is attack. See the setup was great for defence, but opponent lacked the offense. The opponent can only attack 2 of my health but since I was not playing defensive and mostly offensive I can attack him with 5 health.

So even if I am not using the heal or deflect, I can easily knock the opponent in 2 full rounds. As I can attack with 5 melee attack combining both my cards. And that's why having more attack is always better than the defensive approach.

But again the problem lies in the card which you have in your item list. We all want all the best cards which had the most attack but not possible because there is ahard limit on the card you can have. Otherwise you have to spend a lot of money, which is not possible for everyone. So now when you cannot have all the cards, the best is to play according to the game rules. When you have the low mana game, you will be certain that if you can attack more and knock the opponents cards then it's a best chance to win.

And if you play defensive and tries to increase your health or try to save your health and not attack much then it's a problem. It's not that I winall the games because I have my card restrictions but still playing offensive helps has its Merits. So most if the time I try to play offensive itself and sometimes it backfires.

For example, if you play too much offensive then you are vulnerable to the opponents attack and cannot do much attack to the opponent. Like sometimes I play with cards which does scattered attack, in one way it is good but sometimes it is bad when the opponent have good cards. Because then I am not attacking one card a time and my attacks are scattered.
