With this new series, I want to experiment artistically: reimagining Berlin’s famous landmarks in the painting styles of world-renowned artists. Artificial intelligence allows us to playfully connect art history with the cultural identity of the city.

Pablo Picasso is considered a co-founder of Cubism – a radical art movement that broke away from traditional forms of representation in the early 20th century. Instead of depicting objects realistically, he fragmented them into geometric shapes, presented them from multiple perspectives at once, and used bold colors and forms beyond naturalism.

🏛️ Application to the Reichstag

That’s exactly what we see here:

The facade dissolves into triangles, rectangles, and shards, recombining into an abstract yet recognizable structure.

The vivid play of blues, reds, and yellows intensifies the sense of dynamism.

Despite distortion, the central motif – the dome and pillars – remains unmistakable.

✍️ My Opinion

To be honest, Picasso has never been one of my favorite painters. His fame sometimes feels exaggerated to me, and many of his works don’t resonate with me personally. Yet his importance for art history is undeniable: Picasso opened the doors to modern art. This reinterpretation of the Reichstag clearly shows how powerful his visual language remains.

Mit dieser neuen Serie möchte ich ein künstlerisches Experiment wagen: Die bekannten Wahrzeichen Berlins in den Malstilen berühmter Künstler neu zu interpretieren. Künstliche Intelligenz eröffnet hier faszinierende Möglichkeiten, Kunstgeschichte spielerisch mit Stadtkultur zu verbinden.

🖌️ Picasso und der Kubismus

Pablo Picasso gilt als Mitbegründer des Kubismus – einer Kunstströmung, die Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts das traditionelle Bildverständnis radikal aufbrach. Statt realistische Abbildungen zu schaffen, zerlegte er Objekte in geometrische Fragmente, zeigte sie aus mehreren Perspektiven gleichzeitig und spielte mit Farbe und Form weit jenseits der Wirklichkeit.

🏛️ Umsetzung am Reichstag

Genau das sehen wir in dieser Interpretation:

Die Fassade zerfällt in Dreiecke, Vierecke und Splitter, die sich zu einer abstrakten, aber doch erkennbaren Architektur zusammensetzen.

Das Spiel aus Blau, Rot und Gelb verstärkt den Eindruck von Spannung und Bewegung.

Trotz der Verfremdung bleibt das zentrale Motiv – die Kuppel und die Säulen – unverkennbar.

✍️ Meine Meinung

Picasso ist, offen gesagt, nie einer meiner Lieblingsmaler gewesen. Sein Ruhm wirkt auf mich manchmal überhöht, und viele seiner Werke sprechen mich persönlich weniger an. Doch seine kunsthistorische Bedeutung steht außer Frage: Picasso hat die Türen zur modernen Kunst weit aufgestoßen. Diese Neuinterpretation des Reichstags zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie stark sein Stil bis heute wirkt.
