The Painful Memory Of Mother. #memoir
We had had our dinner the previous night and we're happy and ready to go to bed. My husband gathered us together for the evening prayers before bedtime. This is a routine in our home. We usually gather twice a day for family prayers - in the morning and in the evening. So, the day was done and we had all eaten and have the evening family altar.
While the prayers were going on, I was busy picking the beans I wanted to used in preparing breakfast the following morning. I asked my son to wash one of the pots for me to parboil the beans. My children prefer eating their rice and beans with pepper sauce. My husband doesn't like this much. But being the father, what could he do than to succumb sometimes to our wishes 😀.
When my son brought a pot to me, I didn't recall that we had used the pot to cock one of our African concoctions. This is an African native medicine used in treatment of body pains and other diseases. That concoction was prepared with Neem leaves, unripe pawpaw, lemongrass and Lipton tea. You could imagine how that would taste.
Then came the morning. I had woken up and started preparing for the family. My family had been awake before us as his custom has always been. He usually wakes up in the early hours of the day (between 1 am and 3 am) to pray in the night. When I got to taste the in order to determine if it was soft, behold it tasted agbo. Hey! My son used the concoction pot to cook the beans! How would you feel when you had no other food which you want to prepare for the children to get ready for school? How would you feel if the food meant for the family became food for goats and fowls around? Now, that is one of my horrible moments.
I’ve you been in the #memoirmonday prompt by @ericvancewalton before? It is a wonderful engagement where we share our moments of great memories (whether they are good ones or bad ones). Come along and join the train. You can read more about the #memoirmonday challenge here
Not a pleasant experience to wake up to, food would still be nourishing even if not tasting good, perhaps pepper sauce would disguise a little. !LOLZ

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that happened. I think we call those "black-eyed peas" here in America. They're mainly eaten in the southern states. They're delicious.
This is touching.
