THE SEARCH FOR CLARITY

As long as one lives they'll always want to know. There are two many things which require answers and if these answers don't come to us, we go in search of them.

Curiosity is a big flex. That's why from an early age, and in schools, kids are asked to open up, ask questions in order to gain clarity. Why else are people asked to try out new things?

Check out almost all the world's inventions and you'd find that they all have one thing in common, which is that they're birthed from a human's curiosity. And from there, the Genesis of a development.

Even in little everyday routines, we think to tweak up certain things and soon find whether they'd prove good or not.

I was an observant, curious kid growing up. Only thing was, rather than ask questions, I'd go on the search for clarity myself. I just sought answers to things that kids my age did, too. As children, we needed answers to the whys and hows and never truly got anything concrete. And for that reason, we take it on ourselves to embark on personal research. Some of which did not yield anything but might ignite a desire in us and some others of which might bring harm.

Whatever one, we get to learn something from the experience.

...........................................................................

One that almost led to my doom happened when I was in primary class two.

Something about the workings of the refrigerator did not make sense to me then, cause how is it that I put a room temperature drink or whatever in there and when I take it out, it's all cold or even frozen? The part that most amazed me was, then, we had this refrigerator that got so cold, it formed ice on the body.

I did not understand how just having light(electricity) could supply the needed cold. Especially seeing that the electric current was past through thin wires which themselves never got cold.

I asked around but no answer was satisfying...they tried in their explanations but it did not make sense to the little girl. When I no longer could hold back on my curiosity, I sat around the refrigerator one day, leaving the lid open(it was a deep freezer) and looking in to see how the magic happened but I got nothing.

I think it was same day that my mum saw me in that position and asked me to shut the fridge so the items in it can freeze properly.

Reading meaning to get words, I assumed I could only find my answers by going in there. And that was what I did. Never knew anyone could die for lack of air there. Besides I'd never heard of that. It should be cool enough for human life, I thought.

Poor little girl.

I got in, shut the lid. I did not mention to anyone what I planned to do. They would never had let me. For minutes, I sat in there looking for where the magic would start but nothing happened. I was already getting cold but determined to see things to the end.
I'd run my hands across the freezer's body but felt only the coldness of the inner walls. Looking around, there was no place the ice cold be coming from. It was all just smooth and sleek in there.

...........................................................................

Don't remember how long I was in there, but shortly, breathing became an issue. I tried in vain to push open the lid. How could I have known that pushing the freezer lid open from the inside was not easy as doing same from the outside? At that point, my heart was pounding in my chest. I was shaken and crying and slapping at the fridge walls. I don't reckon that anyone heard me. You know how thick the body is compared to how small I was, more less, my hands.

I could have passed out but for the timely save by my brother. He'd come in to get a drink for a customer(my mum sold drinks). That was my saving grace.

It's a experience I've not been able to get off my memory. I was shaken that day.
Months later, I still hadn't gotten my curiosity satisfied. Thanks to school and the sciences tho, I understand now.

And that was just one of many.

yeah, trying to stay on the fridge was something that kids would probably want to try due to curiosity specially when summer season hits. Good for you that someone was able to get you out before things gets worst.
