Hiking around Seven Mountains aka Siebengebirge

Hello Walker and Hiker

Another step towards the Megamarsch. It was already late when we started and it was clear that we had to hike in the dark a bit. I have been to the Siebengebirge many times and my favorite mountain is the 'Großer Ölberg' where I already trained to prepare for the Zugspitze.

Stenzel Mountain and Dragon's Rock Tour

This was quite challenging because it wasn't as long as my last 22 km tour but had a lot of ups and downs. But we got some incredible views over the Rhine as a reward. Even walking back in the dark using our mobile flashlights was fun. The uphill and downhill walk gave a good burn to our legs and now, a day later I can still feel it.

It was nice and I never climbed up the 'Drachenfels' from this side.

Is the train track still in use?

The train is the Drachenfelsbahn and the oldest cog railroad in Germany. You can drive up and down if you don't want to walk.

I used it once or twice many years ago. You can also use a donkey to ride uphill in the summer months.
