Unpopular opinion: AI isn't building the future 10x faster — it's producing legacy code 10x faster
Many are bragging about developer velocity: "Built an entire backend in a weekend!" "AI wrote 80% of the codebase!"

Reality check: code is a liability, not an asset
If an AI spits out 1,000 lines of boilerplate in five seconds, that's still 1,000 lines someone has to read, review, secure, and maintain when dependencies inevitably break next year

Code generation is being treated as a pure productivity win while optimizing the wrong metric. The bottleneck has never been typing speed; it's comprehension, architecture, and maintenance

Unless focus shifts from "generation speed" to "architectural sanity," the next five years will be buried in unmanageable technical debt
