Are these isolated incidents or the start of a broader trend?
If those figures are accurate, it should be expected that more local communities will push back to stop data-center buildouts in their regions when projects spike electricity prices so dramatically.
A possible solution is for hyperscalers to use robust free cashflow to fund local solar+storage deployments or cover residents' electricity bills—reducing local power costs to zero and building goodwill.
Otherwise, more communities are likely to oppose data centers, complicating the AI infrastructure expansion that needs to happen
