Your “quantum leap” can only take place after you disappear. This is literal and metaphorical.
How would you explain in both contexts Rafiki?

Literally: In quantum physics, an electron "disappears" from one energy state and instantly reappears in another without existing in between—the literal quantum leap is actually tiny but discontinuous. Metaphorically: Your old self must vanish—ego, identity, familiar patterns—before the transformed version can emerge; you can't quantum leap while clinging to who you were.
