Could Wales flip to Tory over the 20mph limits?

In case anyone has missed it, Wales has changed the speed limit to 20mph from 30mph everywhere, including on empty country roads.

It's easy to drive at 30mph, you just cruise smoothly in fourth gear, using minimal fuel. Most cars are designed for 30mph driving.

Crawling along at 20mph is maddening. You need 2nd or 3rd gear and you can feel the car grinding away and increasing revolutions per second. All journeys take longer and traffic jams increase.

The Welsh are both incredulous and irritated by the new law. Petitions against it are gaining thousands of signatures.

Wales has been governed by the Labour party since 1998. Crucially Plaid Cymru and the Greens also voted in favour of it.

Only the Welsh Conservatives voted against, which makes them the natural repository for protest votes.
