Freewrite #DailyPrompt: Take The Chair

When you reach a moment where life throws so much at you, then you decide to step up, but you feel as if something is holding you down. That is what Take the Chair means to me. It's about taking that opportunity, even though it feels scary.

There's been a time where we had a debate. And you look back, everyone was just talking to each other. Ideas were flowing. People were making constructive arguments. Although nobody wants to be the leader of the discussion,but it feels as if it was just a chair. It was a possibility that people need to take.

And there was a Sarah who was just quiet and willing to listen. And she was smart, but she refused to talk. She kept on listening to everybody. I had to keep listening, but she kept on cool, waiting for her turn to speak. She knew that she must say something in order to add value or contribute to that. They would know what they are doing.

She stands and walks and takes the chair. The room was all quiet. Everyone was nervous. But she started to talk. And when she started talking, It was as if she stole the heart of everyone. She made the constructive arguments. And they nod. And they were all cheerful and agreed with her. And at last, she was known as the one that seized her opportunity well.

We told her to take the chair because we all heard her voice. That is what taking the chair means. It's not about that physical thing, but about trying to honour all the moments, if given, to speak, and starting to put out your shame with confidence by not being scared, by saying what you want, the way it is.

Next time where that empty chair is your life and you have the opportunity, make sure you go and sit on it. Take the chair. Use the opportunity.
