CHIA

What is Chia?

"Chia is a cryptocurrency where mining (or farming, in Chia parlance) is based on the amount of hard disk storage space devoted to it rather than processing power as with Proof of work cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The platform was created by a California based company called Chia Network Inc. The Chia Network was founded in 2017 by American computer programmer Bram Cohen, the author of the BitTorrent protocol. In May 2021, Chia Network raised a $61 million investment, valuing the company at about $500 million. The same month, the company announced plans to conduct an IPO before the end of 2021. As of August 2023, the IPO has not yet occurred, although a registration statement was filed with the SEC in April 2023."

Think what you will of Chia but I will get to my story. The reason for the graphic is to show the price of Chia when I decided to get into it. I believe it was around $1600 now at just under $29. Ouch.

TEAM WORK

The idea of mine when I got interested in Chia was to use my mining rewards to help build BBH. Yes, if you don't know yet, I am that dedicated to my Building BBH project.

You live and hopefully learn in life and in cryptocurrency.

I got greedy. I thought if I set up my farm and waited long enough I would, with luck, get awarded an occasional block reward. A year and a half later and nothing. And the time frame for me was getting longer as I was not adding to my farm.

Last week a bought another hard drive. And got to thinking 🤔.

I now have 26 terabytes of hard drive space. I failed mining. POOL time. Thst means team work. So, as of yesterday I started creating plots on my new hard drive for the pool and I am earning.

Not a lot, as of this writing I only have 5 plots with the pool. But I have enough hard drive space for around 270. This will be a good start.

As I grow my farm and get profitable I will start channeling funds into my Hive activities.

Including BBH, my hive-engine witness node, etc.

I am going to use web 2.0 to grow my web 3.0.

As with everything it will take time, but I have started.

I have learned the value of team work even if it is in a pool.

HIVEGHANA

Speaking od team work. @mcsamm and @collinz with what they are doing in Ghana.

I usually talk about the boreholes, they have started their 11th. But @mcsamm wrote a post yesterday that you have to read. Hive Blockchain and USAG Join Forces to Empower Ghanaian Students..

The first paragraph:

"On August 31, 2023, a historic collaboration unfolded as the Hive Blockchain partnered with the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) for an exceptionally successful Annual Delegate Congress held at the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)."

Historic is an understatement I believe.
If you doubt the power of Hive, of team work, you have not been reading through posts from these two.

Part of the last paragraph :

Absolutely amazing. Only 200 or so more countries to start having this vision and this amount of team work.

Now only if we can work @leofinance into this 😉

TEAM WORK

Three different subjects in one post. But they all show the power of team work. The diversity on Hive. And the most important thing. If we all work as a team we can accomplish all our goals and beyond.
