Why Is There So Much Evil in This World?
Every day, we hear stories of violence, hatred, injustice, betrayal, poverty, and people hurting one another. Sometimes we ask ourselves: If God is good, why does He allow so much evil to exist in the world?
One reason evil exists is because human beings have the ability to make choices. People can choose to do what is right, but they can also choose greed, hatred, selfishness, violence, and dishonesty. Unfortunately, the wrong choices of some people can cause suffering for many others.
The Bible teaches that God does not delight in evil. Instead, He calls people to turn away from wrongdoing and choose what is good.
Even though we cannot explain every painful thing that happens in life, we can choose how we respond to the evil around us. We can refuse to repay hatred with hatred. We can show kindness, forgive others, help those in need, and stand for what is right.
Sometimes, one good action may look small, but it can make a difference in someone's life.
