Weaving an easy kitchen towel holder
Happy day, my dear needle friends! I hope you are well, with lots of health and wellness.
Today I want to share with you a new project. I couldn't resist using some of the wooden rings I bought a while ago to make the souvenirs for my mom's mass in September. My hands were itching to weave something with them, and they seemed perfect to make a kitchen towel holder.
This project is one of those that you fall in love with because it is easy, fast and with a small amount of yarn. Besides, it is very useful and gives a beautiful and handmade touch to the kitchen. Best of all, I was able to use materials I already had at home. I used some of the yarn I had left over from the scarf I knitted recently, and another bit of a thicker yarn I had bought some time ago, waiting for the inspiration to turn it into something nice. And it came!

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un nuevo proyecto. Les cuento que no me pude resistir a usar varias de las argollas de madera que compré hace poco para hacer los recuerditos de la misa de mi mamá en septiembre. Me picaban las manos por tejer algo con ellas, y me parecieron perfectas para hacer un porta toalla de cocina.
Este proyecto es de esos que enamoran porque se teje fácil, rápido y con poquita cantidad de hilo. Además, es de gran utilidad y le da un toque bonito y artesanal a la cocina. Lo mejor de todo es que pude aprovechar materiales que ya tenía en casa. Usé un poco del hilado que me sobró de la bufanda que tejí hace poco, y otro pedacito de un hilo más grueso que había comprado hace tiempo, esperando a que me llegara la inspiración para convertirlo en algo lindo. ¡Y llegó!

The knitting is very simple: we start by knitting low stitches around the wooden ring, starting with a slipped knot. This will be our base. From there, we knit as many rows as we want, always starting each one with an ascending chain. Then, we simply knit a single crochet inside each single crochet of the previous row. At the end we knit a chain of ten stitches, it will also depend on the number of stitches that have been knitted, and we return it by filling it with single crochet to close it at the end. You can't get lost. Anyway, I will make a step by step in pictures to share soon on my account Instagram.
I tried with both types of yarn and, although both turned out beautifully, I must say that with the thicker yarn the towel holder is firmer, with a better shape and a finish that I love. Even so, I liked them both so much that they are already hanging in my kitchen. They look beautiful, and it makes me happy to know that they are made with my hands.
El tejido es muy sencillo: se comienza tejiendo puntos bajos alrededor de la argolla de madera, a partir de un nudo deslizado. Esa será nuestra base. A partir de ahí, tejemos tantas vueltas como deseemos, siempre comenzando cada una con una cadenita de subida. Luego, simplemente vamos haciendo un punto bajo dentro de cada punto bajo de la vuelta anterior. Al final se teje una cadeneta de diez puntos, también dependerá del número de puntos que hayan tejido, y nos devolvemos rellenándola con puntos bajos para cerrar al final. No tiene pérdida. De todas maneras, haré un paso a paso en fotografías para compartir próximamente en mi cuenta de Instagram.
Probé con los dos tipos de hilo y, aunque ambos quedaron bonitos, debo decir que con el hilo más grueso el porta toalla queda más firme, con mejor forma y un acabado que me encanta. Aun así, los dos me gustaron tanto que ya están colgados en mi cocina. Se ven lindísimos, y me hace feliz saber que están hechos con mis manos.

La idea me gustó tanto que ya tengo en mente hacer varios más, no solo para seguir embelleciendo mi casa, sino también para vender. Son ideales como detallitos para regalar o para quienes buscan piezas prácticas, hechas a mano.
