Saturday shopping: A new plant for my garden

Greetings, my dear Lifestyle friends. I hope you are feeling great, healthy and well, and that you are enjoying a good weekend.

This Saturday I made the most of it early in the morning. I watered my maticas in the morning and then went out to shop for the week with my husband. After buying everything on the list, I like to keep looking at other things, because I never know what surprises I might stumble upon.

A few Saturdays ago, I had seen a lady selling seedlings on the street. Her plants were so well cared for that they caught my attention right away. Since then, I had promised myself that, if I met her again, I would buy one from her. Today, finally, I saw her again, and without hesitation, I approached her stall. this was the surprise today that I was looking for! 😊 In the morning I thought I needed one more matica.

I wanted to take several of the seedlings the lady had on her table. They all looked beautiful. However, as the lady was showing me the succulents and cacti on the top of the table, I saw one on the bottom that made me smile.

It was a plant I had been looking for since I started my little garden here. I knew this plant by the name of striped spoon, but the lady, with a smile, told me it was also called watermelon heart. I loved that name, for it is true that the leaf is heart-shaped and the stripes of the watermelon shell. So that was the one I brought home. Upon arrival, I felt a mixture of satisfaction and joy, for I knew right away that it was a beautiful addition to my garden.

Este sábado lo aproveché desde temprano. Regué mis maticas por la mañana y luego salí a hacer las compras de la semana con mi esposo. Después de comprar todo lo anotado en la lista, me gusta seguir viendo otras cosas, pues nunca se sabe con qué sorpresa me puedo topar.

Hace unos sábados, había visto a una señora vendiendo plantitas en la calle. Sus plantas estaban tan bien cuidadas que me llamaron la atención de inmediato. Desde entonces, me había prometido que, si la volvía a encontrar, le compraría una. Hoy, finalmente, la vi de nuevo, y sin dudarlo, me acerqué a su puesto. ¡Esta era la sorpresa de hoy que estaba buscando! 😊 En la mañana pensé que me hacía falta una matica más.

Quería llevarme varias de las plantitas que la señora tenía en su mesa. Todas se veían hermosas. Sin embargo, mientras la señora me mostraba las suculentas y cactus que estaban la parte de arriba de la mesa, vi una en la parte de abajo que me hizo sonreír.

Era una planta que había estado buscando desde que empecé a hacer mi jardincito aquí. Conocía esta planta con el nombre de cucharita rayada, pero la señora, con una sonrisa, me dijo que también se llamaba corazón de sandía. Me encantó ese nombre, pues es verdad que la hoja tiene forma de corazón y las rayas de la cáscara de la sandia. Así que esa fue la que me traje a casa. Al llegar, sentí una mezcla de satisfacción y alegría, pues supe de inmediato que fue una hermosa adición a mi jardín.
