My first scarf knitted with two needles
Greetings and blessings, my dear friends of the needles. I hope you are in good health and wellness and that this is an Easter of recollection, rest, inspiration and creativity.
This weekend I finished my first two-needle knitting project, and I couldn't be happier and prouder. I told you in this post that I started learning this technique in February, with a lot of curiosity and some nerves. However, I decided to give myself a chance to learn something new and at the end of that month I took the plunge with my first challenge: a scarf.
Saludos y bendiciones, mis queridas amigas de las agujas. Espero que estén muy bien con salud y bienestar y que esta sea una Semana Santa de recogimiento, de descanso, y de inspiración y creatividad.
Este fin de semana terminé mi primer proyecto tejido con dos agujas, y no puedo estar más feliz y orgullosa. Les conté en esta publicación que empecé a aprender esta técnica en febrero, con mucha curiosidad y algo de nervios. Sin embargo, decidí darme la oportunidad de aprender algo nuevo y a finales de ese mes me lancé con mi primer reto: una bufanda.
I chose a red wine colored yarn that I loved from the first moment. Its soft texture and deep tone seemed perfect to accompany me in this learning process. At the beginning, each stitch required my full attention. It was hard to get into the rhythm and many times I had to undo and start over, but I never gave up. Little by little, with dedication, patience and lots of love, I saw how the scarf was taking shape in my hands.
For two months I knitted each row carefully, enjoying the process and learning to appreciate each step. I found the two-needle technique challenging, different from crochet in every way, but that is exactly what made each achievement have a special value.
To give it a special touch, I added, on each side of the scarf, some bangs with the same yarn. Seeing it finished, I feel very happy for the garment itself, and for what it represents: perseverance, learning and love for handmade things. My red wine scarf is ready, it is warm and will surely make me feel warm and elegant.
Escogí un hilo color vino tinto que me encantó desde el primer momento. Su textura suave y su tono profundo me parecieron perfectos para acompañarme en este aprendizaje. Al principio, cada punto requería toda mi atención. Me costaba agarrar el ritmo y muchas veces tuve que deshacer y volver a empezar, pero nunca me rendí. Poco a poco, con dedicación, paciencia y mucho cariño, fui viendo cómo la bufanda iba tomando forma entre mis manos.
Durante dos meses estuve tejiendo cada fila con cuidado, disfrutando del proceso y aprendiendo a valorar cada avance. La técnica con dos agujas me pareció desafiante, diferente al crochet en todos los sentidos, pero justo eso hizo que cada logro tuviera un valor especial.
Para darle un toque especial, le agregué, de cada lado de la bufanda, unos flecos con el mismo hilado. Al verla terminada, siento mucha alegría por la prenda en sí, y por lo que representa: constancia, aprendizaje y amor por lo hecho a mano. Mi bufanda vino tinto ya está lista, es calientita y seguro me hará sentir abrigada y elegante.
