Making burlap at my crafters' meeting(EN-ES)
Greetings to all. I hope that blessings of health and well-being multiply in your lives.
Today at the library, we started a very special project to celebrate next month's anniversary: the creation of a creative burlap tapestry to express what this place means to each of us, the artisans who share our time and talent there. I am very excited about this idea because, for me, the library is a true refuge: light, wisdom, creativity, friendship, and companionship.
Before we started, the teacher explained that burlap is a very beautiful craft technique that consists of using scraps of fabric, preferably jute or hemp, to create a kind of textile picture full of figures, colors, and details. I love it because with fabric, scissors, needle, thread, and a lot of imagination, we will create a mural where each of us can show the feeling that unites us in this space.

Hoy en la biblioteca dimos inicio a un proyecto muy especial, con motivo del aniversario que celebraremos el próximo mes: la creación de una arpillera creativa para expresar lo que este lugar significa para cada una de nosotras, las artesanas que compartimos allí nuestro tiempo y talento. La idea me emociona mucho, porque para mí la biblioteca es un verdadero refugio: luz, sabiduría, creatividad, amistad y compañía.
Antes de iniciar, la profesora nos explicó que la arpillera es una técnica artesanal muy bonita que consiste en usar retazos de tela, preferiblemente yute o cáñamo, para crear una especie de cuadro textil lleno de figuras, colores y detalles. Me encanta porque con telas, tijeras, aguja, hilo y mucha imaginación crearemos un mural donde cada una podrá mostrar el sentimiento que nos une en este espacio.
I decided to start my burlap project on a piece of white fabric, cutting out and assembling the little library house as a symbol of everything it gives me. I cut out trees, a path that always guides us there, and a radiant sun that I wove so that there would be permanent light. As I arranged the pieces of fabric and added to it, I already imagined what I wanted to add: books representing shared wisdom, embroidered branches to give life and movement, and woven flowers to bring color and joy, just like the people who cross paths in this space.
This is just the beginning of my project, and I confess that I am eager to continue moving forward and to show you soon the final result of this little piece of my heart made into art.
Yo decidí comenzar mi arpillera en un pedazo de tela blanca, recortando y armando la casita de la biblioteca, como símbolo de todo lo que ella me brinda, recorté árboles, también un sendero que siempre nos guie hasta allá, y un sol radiante que tejí para que haya luz permanente. Mientras acomodaba los pedacitos de tela y lo que iba agregando, ya me imaginaba lo que quiero sumar: unos libros que representen la sabiduría compartida, ramas bordadas para dar vida y movimiento, y flores tejidas que aporten color y alegría, tal como las personas que se cruzan en este espacio.
Este es apenas el inicio de mi proyecto, y les confieso que estoy deseosa de seguir avanzando y de mostrarles pronto el resultado final de este pedacito de mi corazón hecho arte.
