Today, I was going through my phone with the intention of deleting photos and freeing up space. I started swiping through the screen almost without thinking, deleting duplicate images, old screenshots, and things I no longer need to keep. In the middle of that process, I came across some photos I took in December.
In them, there is a phrase I found on the street, written like a neon sign. It was an advertisement for Bancolombia. The phrase read: “It's super easy to laugh.” Those words caught my attention when I saw them, and I felt compelled to photograph them and record that encounter. Reading the phrase again, I felt that there was a message there worth sharing with you.

Hoy estuve revisando mi teléfono con la intención de borrar fotos y liberar espacio. Empecé a deslizar la pantalla casi sin pensar, eliminando imágenes repetidas, capturas viejas y cosas que ya no necesito guardar. En medio de ese recorrido aparecieron unas fotos que me tomé en diciembre.
En ellas, aparece una frase que encontré en la calle, escrita como un aviso luminoso. Era publicidad de Bancolombia. La frase decía: “Es requete fácil reír.” Esas palabras me llamaron la atención cuando las vi y sentí ganas de fotografiarlas y de dejar constancia de ese encuentro. Al leer la frase, otra vez, sentí que ahí había un mensaje que valía la pena compartir con ustedes.
We often live as if smiling were complicated, as if we needed very good reasons, perfect days, or special conditions to do so. However, laughing is easier than we think. This phrase made me think that sometimes not everything deserves to be taken so seriously, that we can choose how to deal with what comes our way. And I should clarify that, of course, laughing does not erase problems, but it does transform the way we look at them. A smile does not solve everything, but it opens up space and eases tensions. Smiling brings us closer to others and makes everyday life feel a little kinder.
Today I understand why I hadn't deleted these photos, because they carry a powerful message: life isn't always easy, but laughing can be if we give ourselves permission, and we think of it as a daily decision and also a way of taking care of ourselves.
I'm sharing this because maybe someone needs to read it today. And if laughing is super easy, maybe the important thing is to allow ourselves to do it more often and without guilt.
A menudo vivimos como si sonreír fuera complicado, como si necesitáramos muy buenas razones, días perfectos o condiciones especiales para hacerlo. Sin embargo, reír es más fácil de lo que pensamos. Esta frase me hizo pensar que a veces no todo merece ser tomado tan en serio, que podemos elegir cómo afrontar lo que se nos presenta. Y debo aclarar que, por supuesto, reír no borra los problemas, pero sí transforma la forma en que los vemos. Una sonrisa no lo resuelve todo, pero abre espacios y alivia tensiones. Sonreír nos acerca a los demás y hace que el día a día sea un poco más amable.
Hoy entiendo por qué no había borrado estas fotos, porque transmiten un mensaje poderoso: la vida no siempre es fácil, pero reír puede serlo si nos damos permiso para hacerlo y lo consideramos una decisión diaria y también una forma de cuidarnos.
Comparto esto porque quizá alguien necesite leerlo hoy. Y si reír es requete fácil, quizá lo importante sea permitirnos hacerlo más a menudo y sin sentirnos culpables.
