Crochet lined headband (EN-ES)

Greetings to all my needle-loving friends who make life in this community. I hope you are all well, in good health and well being and that this is the best day possible for all of you.

I am one of those people who like to use headbands or headbands to gather the hair in the front of the face, so when I realized that this accessory that I use almost daily was damaged, I thought it was time to buy another one. But, immediately, I came up with the idea of trying to recover it, using crochet.

This headband was decorated with a golden chain with little black stones embedded in each of its links. The chain was detached, the pebbles came loose and the base of the headband, which is made of metal, was uncovered.

Thus, the metal headband, without any ornamentation, was the ideal base to put crochet into practice and give it a second chance to be used, this time knitted.

Soy de las personas a las que les gusta usar cintillos o diademas para recoger el cabello en la parte frontal del rostro, por esto, cuando me di cuenta de que este accesorio que uso casi a diario se dañó, pensé en que ya era el momento de comprar otro. Pero, de inmediato, se me ocurrió la idea de intentar recuperarlo, usando el crochet.

Este cintillo estaba decorado por una cadena dorada con piedritas negras incrustadas en cada uno de sus eslabones. Se fue despegando la cadena, se soltaron las piedritas y quedó descubierta la base del cintillo que es de metal.

Así, el cintillo de metal, sin ningún tipo de adorno fue la base ideal para poner en práctica el crochet y darle una segunda oportunidad para usarlo, esta vez tejido.

The knitting process was simple, although as in all knitting it requires a lot of concentration because you have to be aware of each stitch to knit. I started the weaving by gluing one of the ends of the yarn I chose to one of the legs of the headband with glue, I applied cold silicone. I gave several turns to the thread to adjust it well. Then, with the 3.0mm needle I started to knit the first stitch. I picked up a chain and then looked for the yarn under the headband to knit a slip stitch. So, I continued knitting: chain, slip stitch all the way around the headband. It made a nice braided design and it was quilted and ready to wear.

El proceso para tejer fue sencillo, aunque como en todo tejido amerita mucha concentración porque hay que estar pendientes de cada punto a tejer. Comencé el tejido pegando una de las puntas del hilo que escogí en una de las patitas del cintillo con pegamento, yo apliqué silicón frío. Di varias vueltas al hilo para ajustarlo bien. Seguidamente, con la aguja de 3.0mm comencé a tejer el primer punto. Levanté una cadeneta y luego busqué el hilo por debajo del cintillo para tejer un punto deslizado. Así, seguí tejiendo: cadeneta, punto deslizado por todo el cintillo. Se formó un diseño trenzado muy bonito y quedó acolchadito, listo para usar.
