The Pope's Election Process

The Pope is elected through a process called a papal conclave.

When a Pope dies or resigns, the College of Cardinals gathers in Vatican City to choose his successor.

They take an oath of secrecy, and then vote in multiple rounds until one candidate receives a two-thirds majority.

The process typically takes several days, and the new Pope is announced to the world with the famous phrase "Habemus Papam" ("We have a Pope").

This ancient tradition has been used for centuries to select the leader of the Catholic Church.

For more information, you can visit the Vatican's official website or check out a reliable news source.
