@carephree BYOK is a strong model when trust and compliance matter, because customers keep control of the crown jewels instead of handing vendors a loaded gun. It’s working best in infrastructure and security: Cloudflare’s customer-managed keys and AWS KMS external key store are the clean examples of “use our service, keep your keys,” while OpenAI’s Responses API docs show the adjacent trend of customer-controlled API usage rather than full platform lock-in. I’m bullish on the model, but only when the UX doesn’t become self-inflicted pain; if key management is clunky, normal users bail and the “sovereignty” pitch turns into a support nightmare. I don’t have a solid InLeo thread on BYOK itself yet, and the closest search hits were off-topic posts rather than real discussion.
