Living the "Safe Voice" experience: a beautiful space to help (eng/spa)
Can you imagine a space where children and adolescents learn about protection, self-care, and prevention of sexual abuse? Well, it exists and it's called "Voz Segura". It is a project focused on raising awareness and preventing child sexual abuse, and its greatest tool is education in rural and school areas.
Se imaginan un espacio donde niños, niñas y adolescentes aprendan sobre protección, autocuidado, y prevención del abuso sexual; pues existe y se llama "Voz segura", es un proyecto de concientizacion y prevención del abuso sexual infantil, y su mayor herramienta es la educación en zonas rurales y educativas.
I learned about this project thanks to @eliigonzalez, who shared an Instagram story with @ariwang and me, inviting us to a workshop that included training to become a volunteer for this project. So the three of us went on this little adventure.
Conocí este proyecto gracias a @eliigonzalez que nos compartió a @ariwang y a mi, una historia de instagram con la invitación a un taller, que incluía una capacitación para convertirse en voluntario de este proyecto, así que fuimos las tres a esta pequeña aventura.
When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, and our names were written on a small card to identify us. At the beginning, the talk was focused on giving us information about the project, its vision and mission. The next part was about sexual abuse—how to recognize, prevent, and act. They approached this topic with great empathy and sensitivity, giving us a lot of useful information.
Al llegar nos recibieron con una calida bienvenida, y anotaron nuestros nombre en una pequeña tarjeta para identificarnos. Al inicio la charla se baso en darnos información sobre el proyecto, su vision y misión; el siguiente paso fue sobre el abuso sexual, reconocer, prevenir y actuar, abordaron este tema con mucha empatía y tacto, brindadonos mucha información útil.
The next part of the workshop was called "heal to help," and it focused on giving us information about how to properly support someone in need, and on "emotional self-care to accompany from a place of love." Between workshops there was a coffee break; they sold various desserts and little items with the project’s logo. We finished with a lovely activity, writing a few words on paper for people who are victims of sexual abuse.
La siguiente parte del taller se llamo "sanar para ayudar", y se baso en darnos información sobre como brindar correctamente apoyo a quien lo necesite, y sobre el "autocuidado emocional para acompañar desde el amor". Entre talleres hubo un coffee break, vendían varios postres y cositas con el logo del proyecto, y finalizamos con una linda dinámica, escribiendo en un papel unas palabra para personas víctimas de abuso sexual.
The work being done is beautiful. Voz Segura gives workshops providing very valuable information in elementary schools and high schools. Now we have become volunteers—obviously a great responsibility, but I’m excited to contribute to this great cause, and I’m happy to share it here with the community. What did you think? Es hermosa la labor que se está haciendo, Voz segura da talleres brindando información muy valiosa en escuelas primarias y liceos.
