Hello, Hive Book Club community! I'm happy to be posting here for the first time. Today, I want to share one of my favorite books with you: One Hundred Years of Solitude. I recently watched the Netflix series, and I couldn’t help but recall the fantastic experience I had reading the novel.

Let's talk about this classic. One Hundred Years of Solitude is a book most of us have heard of, as it is required reading in many schools. Some consider it a dense book, especially for those just beginning to explore classic literature.

But what is this masterpiece of Latin American literature about?

One Hundred Years of Solitude is a novel written by Gabriel García Márquez that tells the story of the Buendía family, seven generations bound by the same fate. It all begins with the marriage of José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán, who are cousins, and from that event, the story unfolds.

García Márquez beautifully portrays the traditional Latin American family. The narrative blends fantastical and even surreal elements, offering a story rich in drama and unexpected twists.

For me, the storytelling is deeply immersive. The novel captures our attention, making us feel like just another resident of Macondo, the town founded by José Arcadio Buendía, where the story takes place.

The Netflix series stays very true to the book and is well made. However, if anyone asked me, I would always recommend reading the novel first to fully experience One Hundred Years of Solitude.

The book does not require prior cultural knowledge, just imagination, to grasp the depth of the story. All you need is your intelligence and attention to dive into the world of One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Hola comunidad de hive book club, me alegra postear por aquí por primera vez. Quiero compartir con ustedes unos de mi libros favoritos, "Cien Años de Soledad". Recientemente me vi la serie de netflix y no pude evitar recordar la fantástica experiencia que me dio el libro.

Hablemos de este clásico, Cien Años de soledad, seguro todos hemos escuchado de este libro, ya que es una lectura obligatoria en muchas escuelas. Muchos lo catalogan como un libro muy pesado para quienes empiezan a leer clásicos.

¿Pero de que trata este clásico de la literatura latinoamericana?

CAS es la novela escrita por Gabriel García Márquez, donde nos relata la historia de la familia Buendía, siete generaciones con el mismo destino. Empieza con el matrimonio de José Arcadio Buendía y Ursula Iguaran, que son primos, y tras ese acontecimiento se desarrolla la historia.

García Márquez nos hace recordar a la familia latinoamericana tradicional. La narración nos da elementos fantásticos, incluso surrealistas. La historia nos ofrece una trama rica en drama y giros.

Para mi la narración es muy envolvente, la historia atrapa nuestra atención. De repente nos convierte en un habitante mas de Macondo, que es el pueblo fundado por Jose Arcadio Buendía, donde se desarrolla la novela.

La serie de netflix es muy apegada al libro, y muy buena. Sin embargo, a cualquiera que me pregunte, le recomendaría el libro, para que no se prive de la experiencia de leer Cien Años de Soledad.

El libro no te exige conocimientos culturales previos, más que la imaginación, para entender el contexto de la historia. Sólo necesitas tu propia inteligencia y tu atención, para leer cien años de soledad.
