A few days ago, I shared here that I had adopted a cat, which meant a trip to the pet store was necessary.

Since I live in an apartment, he obviously needed a comfortable place to do his business. So, I set out to find a litter box, as it’s essential for a cat’s health. I found the perfect one at the vet clinic where we take our dog, Kyoto. They had a great deal that included the litter box, a scoop, a cat feeder, and five kilos of litter—all for just $15!

Hace unos días compartí por aquí que había adoptado un gato, así que surgieron algunas compras en la veterinaria.

Como vivo en un departamento, obviamente necesita donde hacer sus necesidades cómodamente, entonces me puse en la tarea de buscar un arenero, ya que es primordial para la salud de los gatos, y conseguí la ideal en la veterinaria donde llevamos a nuestro perrito Kyoto. Tenían una promoción qué traía el arenero, su palita, un comedero para gatos y cinco kilos de arena, todo por 15 dólares.

Having Owen in the apartment made this purchase urgent. If you didn’t know, cat waste has a very strong smell, so we needed the litter box ASAP. Luckily, the store offers delivery, and it arrived quickly. I also took the opportunity to buy a dewormer to keep Owen healthy.

Ya que teníamos a owen en departamento, era una compra urgente, por si no lo sabías las heces de los gatos huelen muy mal, así que la necesitábamos rápido. Lo bueno es que la tienda tiene delivery y llego rápido, además aproveche de comprar un desparasitante, para prevenir que owen se enferme.

When the delivery arrived, we were as excited as kids with a new toy! The litter bag had torn a little, spilling some litter, but nothing too bad. Other than that, everything was perfect. Seeing the litter box next to Owen, it looked huge for him, but that’s the idea—it needs to last as he grows.

Cuando llego el delivery, fue muy emocionante nos sentíamos como niño con juguete nuevo. La bolsa de la arena se había roto, y se regó un poco, pero nada de que preocuparse, de resto todo llego bien. Viendo la caja de arena al lado de owen se veía muy grande para el, pero esa es la idea, para que le sirve cuando crezca.

We filled it with litter and wondered, Would he know how to use it? I was worried he wouldn’t, so I started watching videos on how to train a kitten to use a litter box. But in the end, Owen taught us! Like a pro, he did his business and even covered it up. I was amazed at how smart he is at just one month old!

La llenamos de arena y nos surgió la duda, ¿sabría el utilizarla? Me preocupo qué no supiera usarla, y empecé a ver videos de como hacer que lo utilizara y todo respecto al arenero, pero termino owen enseñándonos a nosotras, y como todo un experto hizo sus necesidades y las tapo, me impresionó que con un mes de vida sea tan inteligente.

While researching, we learned that the litter should be about seven centimeters deep, it needs to be changed once a month, and it should be cleaned daily. The litter box should also be in a well-ventilated area, away from food and water.

Investigando sobre el arenero, aprendimos que la arena tiene que tener una profundidad de más o menos siete centimetros, además, la arena se cambia una vez al mes y se limpia a diario. El arenero tiene que estar en un área ventilada, y lejos de la comida y agua de las mascotas.
