Splintershards (SPS) in on the right path after the change in Splinterlands

Sometimes changes are required in the project to drive things towards the right path and I believe now the same action has been taken with Splinterlands. Its been almost one week since the change in which the sps token has been made a requirement to get a better reward. this is good for those who are holding the tokens already but some people are not holding and since they are the players so they need to buy it from the market. For those people, this decision might not be good but overall I believe it is a good change in the game ecosystem which will make the SPS token more valuable.

Undoubtedly holders are very happy because the price is moving towards the upside and the holding is getting more valuable. a proper use case is also an important part of any token economy so after this change, we can say that the SPS has got an important utility in the game.

SPS Price movement

If we look at the below chart price for the token then we will realise that in the last week, there has been a good price appreciation. It is obvious that now because there is more requirement for the tokens so people are buying them from the market and probably because of this region the dumping has also reduced. we cannot ignore the fact that this is the same token that was distributed as part of the airdrop for the entire year to the community. when any airdrop happens then we cannot expect people to hold it and in most cases, people just try to book the profit and consider it free money.

When there are more sellers than buyers then the price is bound to go down and nothing can control it but a proper use case can change the scenario which we can see in this case now. Its good to see the green colour with the SPS price and I expect that this should go even higher because this will create a lot of positive sentiment in the market and might onboard many new people who were thinking that the token has got no value in the game.

Time to grab more

In my opinion, even the current price is good enough to buy more tokens because the price might go even higher considering the demand. it is applicable for everyone to maintain a good sps holding in the game account else the reward will be just 1 X which is not going to be significant. Although there is an option to go on the rental for SPS power but that is also one of the ways through which holders can earn some reward. undoubtedly the current price is good to buy provided the strategy is for the long term and in the meantime you will continue to earn some rewards by delegating it to another player or by playing yourself.

SPS Rental Market

This rental market is also a good option to go for if you are someone who is not playing and even if you are planning to upgrade your holding by going for SPS rental. I believe that the price will increase in the beginning because a lot of people must be trying to grab more power which can reward them more or even at the end of the season because based on the holding the rewards will be determined. I'm not sure how is it going to work for me after the change since I am eligible for the highest multiplier in Gold League. I am not going to delegate anything at the moment and even I am not going to request the rental because I need to analyse the reward in this season and accordingly I will be planning things in the game after this season.

I will be trying to understand how things work after the change in the game and what reward is distributed to me since I am holding over 115K SPS in my game account. I can also see some reduction in the rental price otherwise it was slightly high a couple of days back but that is OK since it always happens and based on supply and demand it can fluctuate.

For now, my strategy remains the same and I have purchased a few 1000 tokens this week which is going to be the same in the coming weeks as well. I will see if I can reach 150K SPS before the year-end. This can happen if I am able to arrange some additional funds and that way I'll be buying more from the market to grow my holding. There is a slight reduction in the APR which was expected because a lot of people will be powering up the tokens so with the increased amount we are going to see a reduction on the staking APR.
