A Winter Story
(Edited)
Where I live, winter landscapes are usually quite minimalist — no special effects. But step into a conifer forest during a light snowfall, and it suddenly feels like a portal to a completely different, almost magical world.

The pine trunks rise straight and tall, disappearing somewhere above, their tops lost in a white haze. Snow falls slowly, and everything looks remarkably peaceful.

You walk along the fresh snow, and each step comes with a soft crunch that sounds almost festive in the stillness — almost like New Year's again, even though the holidays are long behind us.

Sometimes it feels as if there isn't a single sound around. But if you listen carefully, somewhere in the distance a woodpecker starts tapping in a steady rhythm. Romance clearly isn't on its agenda — snowfall or not, lunch is still on schedule.

It's these special effects — tall pines, quiet snowfall, and the occasional careful sound — that create this atmosphere. Just you, the snow, and the trees. Moments like this make you want to stand still among the pines and lift your face to the slowly falling snow, letting yourself gradually become part of the winter landscape.

And to make it easier to grasp the scale of these trees, you can see my better half in the last two photos. She kindly agreed to stand still among the pines for a moment — purely to create one more special effect.

Thank you for stopping by!
