So, hearing a lot about Tariffs, taxes and stuff... I was interested in knowing why we in Libya, don't pay taxes. I guess it's not like taxes don't exist here, but at least normal people don't have to think about them in mind.
Maybe a weird question, but since there is some history with Libya and Europe, is there desire for Libya to have closer ties with Europe in the future or?
Not sure... I guess it depends on what type of ties you mean. What I know is that the Politics in Libya is unstable now, and there are multiple armed groups having control over different places, so the government doesn't control everything here. (There's a Cold Civil War going on, but it's not as bad as it sounds. They rarely fight in places with Civilians.)
That makes any ties with other countries a bit messy.
The average person here doesn't care about all this, though. We mostly care about bringing food on the table, and even many of the people fighting in the armed groups have only joined because the pay is good.
I see. The reason I wonder is when the world is changing in a fast pace and former allies is now enemies, europe might need to find new allies. And I have a feeling that northern African countries and Europe could have mutal benefit of better cooperation
Oh no. I worked all over the world in the oil industry. The normal people are almost always awesome and welcoming, it is the politicians... I'll say no more.

For the most part, our History with Italy doesn't affect our current generation's outlook with the current Italy. If that's what you're asking about.

Gaddafi made sure that I had to pay income tax when I worked in Libya.
I guess that's normal for forigeners?
Yeah it was and quite high, but like alot of countries, you just hoped it went to help the people.
True, hope it didn't make you think less of us Libyans.
