Finally Pchum Ben Festival Coming - Monk & Celebration at Pagoda
Hello everyone, how are you? Today I want to share you about my situation in Cambodia and in fact, it is a simple thing that Cambodians usually celebrate this festival every year, they called Pchum Ben.
This morning is the day that Cambodians across the country celebrate the festival and pay respect to all the dead. Especially those who have given up their lives for many years. And to remind them of the good that they have done for their children.
This morning, I woke up early to go to the market to buy food and get ready to take the food to the pagoda again as to offers some fruit and Sla Dok to the monks at the pagoda. Among them are some money and sweets to offer to the dead and to ask for blessings from the monks to provide all the food to the deceased ancestors.
The weather today is very gloomy, the sky continues to rain, making it difficult for people to travel to the festival in the presence.
Once at the pagoda, I offered my humble gifts to the monks and the Buddha. It was more than four hours I spent here that morning. I didn't stay for long as my thoughts turned to my family and the tasks awaiting me at home. However, I felt a sense of peace knowing that I had fulfilled my duty during this meaningful occasion.
This Pchum Ben festival can take place for many days, including the last day of the event, our members and all the family in community of Svay Rolum can go to the festival on any day they are free, we went to our favorite and beloved pagoda as we used to go. Cambodians believe in Buddhism and no matter how rainy or busy they are, they do not forget to go to the pagoda to pay their respects to their deceased parents.
During the festival, the abbot will give some money from community to the nuns and grandparents who are old. To help support their needy people who do not earn as much as other do, so we have to bring some help and effort to them. And they will be happy and we will be happy as well after we finally took a photo together as a souvenir this year.
The Pchum Ben festival lasts for 15 days, giving people in Cambodia plenty of time to visit different pagodas or choose a day that suits them best to following the Khmer traditional since 15 day is long enough to be prepared. The spreading and practical Buddhism within our community.

It must be very fun to go to the pagoda, while I stay at home and hope to have a break after my test. Also the pagoda looks great.
