Your safety should come first, before the society
Rounding up the activities for week 202 episode 3. I am honored to participate in the last episode for the week. Welcome back to my blog.
When I saw the topic for this episode, one thing just dropped into my mind, and what is it? I told myself that is possible for one to be a whistle blower, but definitely not in Nigeria. While for the people outside Nigeria I will advise you report any criminal activities you noticed around your area because you are not just doing it for yourself, but for everyone in the community or your country at large.
Guys if you are in Nigeria, I will advise you hold your peace even when you noticed anything evil going on. The only advice I can give you is that you should shift or run from that scene and go to a safe place. Exposing anything evil might result to your death. I have no apology for what I am saying. Nigeria is not a country you will want to practice been a good person by taking yourself to maybe a police station to report someone who you suspect is doing something bad. Doing that means signing your death warrant.
Some years back I know of a lady who was all over social media because she reported some gang to the police abd the police arrested the guys and the rest of the members. At that moment she thought that it is all over because the guys have been arrested by the police, but just in few days she saw the guys again and they took her life. You can't even trust the Nigerian police by going to tell them something like that because for all I know they may even be behind that criminal activities and taken yourself to them means that you will be taken down.
The government is not even free from this. Alot of evil activities carried out in our society is been carried out by the government of the day and when you report such things to them, you end up implicating yourself. Today we talk about kidnapping activities and why it can't drop, it is because of the backing it already has. You can't fight the government of the day. So when the government is behind anything in the society you can't stop them, be it bad or good.
WHAT MEASURES SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT PUT IN PLACE?
Hmm! Everyone already knows what the government should do if they want to protect the lives of people coming to report one criminal or the other, but we know that is not possible. When 80% of the people there are the ones commiting the crime, how can we salvage the situation. Corruption has eating too deep into our society that there is nothing to be done. For me I can't risk my life because I want to expose someone who will turn back to chase me and I won't have any hidden place. Not even the government cam protect me. Of they can, they should have stopped people from been kidnapped.
Before someone decides to start blowing whistle is this own country, they should think carefully and move with caution. Because no one might come for you in the end and the justice may not be served. In a situation where safety is not guaranteed, silence might be the best course.
