Readers are Leaders.

Reading is one thing that I have always wondered how I can come to a place where I can read as many books as I want. It has been something that makes me unhappy because I have tried and tried and I can't see it working.

Looking at the topic for week 186: episode 2 which talks about reading. How often do we read a book? Is this something I can boast of and say that I can do very well? Hmmm! I don't think so. Right from when I was a little girl, I have struggled to read. After struggling for a while I will start reading, but it doesn't take time for me to stop again. So, I kept asking why I am like this. And the answer is what I don't have up till now. Maybe is because I don't like reading from when I was a child. I don't know.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU READ A PHYSICAL BOOK?

This is my struggle for now and I believe that gradually I will overcome this habit because is not a good one. Can you imagine someone who studied English language and literature, yet I don't like reading? Is this not sarcastic? Anyone who read literature will naturally develop the love to read. I'm fact while back in school sometimes we will be given up to 18 different novels for the semester and I will be asking myself how on earth I will read all of these books. It wasn't easy for me at all. It got to a point where I just concluded that I am studying the wrong course. Hahaha 😂. Is just funny now because I am through with my studies. But guys back then it was a very big struggle for me. In fact some of those courses I don't even know how I managed to pass them. Maybe I should just say that it is a miracle Because all I do most times together with my reading group is to get the summary of each book online and when we come together we share ideas. And Lucky enough each of the book we will always have someone amongst us that have been privileged to read it through maybe during secondary school days. So, that person will just give us the whole story and with the summary with us, we are good to go. This is how I managed to escape having carry overs in each course. All glory to God for helping me because I was so scared that I will have problems for not having the ability to read as I should.

I just try my best to read once in a while. Is not even a good testimony but that is just who I am. Recently I started reading about Kathryn Kulman, but I have always stopped on the way and starting all over again each time I want to start again. Though I tried to finish it last time and I did very well because I started and made sure to finish it, but now I am trying to read it again and having difficulty in doing just that.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU READ A BOOK AS I SHOULD?

I think I did that last year, but for this year the struggle to read as supposed is given my problems. I had to just start reading little by little as I can, hoping that the speed will increase as time goes on. I believe that all of these started from when I was a child. The love for reading was not there and I had no one to inculcate that habit in me. I was just there on my own and today I am really struggling to do the right thing. Most times when I see people who can read very well I be happy for them and wish that I can be like them. I have been trying lately and won't stop trying. That is the best of me now.

WHEN NEXT WILL I PICK A BOOK AND READ?

Like I said earlier, I have been trying to read and presently I am reading beautiful biography of Kathryn Kulman. Though I have read it before and now again I want to read it again because there are some details I still need to get from reading the book.

In summary I believe that readers are leaders just like people do say and I know is the right thing to do. I just have to create time to read and read as much as I can. We all need to embrace reading as a habit.
