LITERACY AS A SHINING LIGHT TO THE WORLD

Literacy is something that I believe everyone should go after. I know that no matter how hard we try, there are still some people who will not buy the idea, or even if they buy the idea circumstances will not allow them go for it. But which ever way illiteracy is a no go area for me.

I am a typical and good example of how literacy can turn ones life for good. First let's look at what illiteracy can do to any life.

ILLITERACY
When one is in this stage, most times you are cut off from the world. You will not understand what people are saying. You will just be in the dark. There is this adage in Hausa language that says that - illiteracy is the worse sickness on earth because it has no cure. Other sickness has cure, but not illiteracy. I believe this saying because I have been there before and I know how thick my darkness was back then.

LITERACY
Literacy helps make a better person. It helps you become a better version of yourself. You will begin to see things the way it should be seen. I once told someone that literacy helps wash the brain and remove every dirtiness in there. People who are literate most times sees things the way it should be and Advance life instead of pushing people backward.

BETTER PARENTS AND NEIGHBORS

When parents are educated it helps them understand how life should be treated. If your parents are illiterate you will notice that their suggestions about life is always odds. Sometimes they will be a discouragement to their children because they don't understand so many things. Take for example our parents who don't understand what is happening online today. If they see you doing anything online it is called Yahoo Yahoo. They don't want to know what you are doing be it bad or good. To them everything online is bad and so their children should not get involved. For me now, my husband will rather prefer that I go to take a teaching job and get #15,000 monthly than just sit at home and do my online things and get more money. He don't understand what I am doing and so he don't give his full support. Even when I try to explain it will just be a waste of time. He once told my daughter to live what she is doing online and come back home to go for a sales girl job that will pay her less. All of these is because he is not literate. If he had gone to school, he will understand better.

LITERACY HELPS US UNDERSTAND PEOPLE BETTER.

For neighbors who are educated, you will mingle easily than the uneducated ones. Take for example people who studied a little of psychology, they understand how people behave and it helped them treat people better. Sometimes when you see your neighbor aggressive, it will help you understand that he or she is going through hard times.

In summary, I do encourage people to go and get educated. If education is expensive, then try illiteracy where you will remain in darkness for the rest of your life.
