Why is web3 taking over the blockchain?

Hello everyone in this great community, it is a pleasure to write and share my thoughts once again here in this community. Today I will be tackling the topic "web3 against the older versions" and we shall look at the difference between both including some of their advantages and disadvantages. Without much ado, let's dive into the topic.

Before we talk about the web3 blockchain, let's quickly tackle that of web1.0 and web2.0. The first internet version to be publicized was web1.0 and that was somewhere in the early 90s. Web 1.0 was web pages interconnected with hyperlinks. From there, we saw or had web2 which largely publicized the internet all over the world within a short period due to the use of smartphones and computers to have access. Web2 created a platform where users can chat and interact with other users from different countries or continents without much difficulty once they have an internet connection and a smart device.

Web2 platforms include YouTube, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms you may think of. In 2014, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, Gavin Wood, then coined web3.0 which is the future internet. The reason Gavin Wood coined web3 was that he realized Web2 platforms are owned by huge companies and everything has been centralized where users don't fully have access to their accounts created.

Web3 came to serve as a decentralized digital network built on a blockchain. Note that, it is the third generation of the internet (web). The main idea about web3 is bridging the gap between big companies and users thereby making the system decentralized and free to access. It is built around blockchain technology as well where users or participants earn rewards in the form of cryptocurrency tokens.

Web3 blockchain has brought about more security in using the internet. Also, it grants users full access or ownership to their accounts where no one can either block or delete their account anyhow. Unlike in web2, your account can be blocked anytime sometimes for doing nothing.

Web3 has made the internet more smoother and transparent for usage. The introduction of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in web3 makes it interesting and good to attract more users. Some of those NFTs have value and can be sold to earn profits. In addition, web3 comes along with cryptocurrency tokens, and with that too, users can sell to make profits.

The introduction of Artificial intelligence is through the help of web3 technology and today we can see the benefits of AI in our dealings, especially in solving technical issues. I do usually wonder what is keeping these web2 users so attached to their platform and not patronizing the web3 platforms such as Hive, and the like. I was once an active user of web2 especially that of Facebook, but as I write this article, I can't recall when exactly I logged into my Facebook account again. Why should I be wasting much time when I can utilize that time here on the web3 platform to earn some nice income for myself?

It is high time, we educate the web2 users on what we have here on web3 so they can appreciate the beauty of the web3 blockchain technology and whatever it entails.
