My take on social media- Weekend engagement
― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches
Hi everyone. I hope you all are fine. I am doing well too. This is my entry to the #weekend-engagement prompt. I would like to share my views about social media.
Every coin has two sides and so has social media. I am a very strong advocate of the view that it is the user who gives meaning or demeans something.
Social media has been evolving through out the years. The major objective of it when it was created was to connect people and it was an amazing thing in my point of view. I think now social media has deviated from its real objective and its bad thing. This is just my opinion and your views can totally differ from mine.
I think social media has put people in a rat race where most of the users are now indulged in mindless scrolling and waste hours gaining little to nothing of real life usage.
People of all ages especially teenagers are prone to both sensitive and insensitive videos and information what can be very dangerous at this tender age.
The over-glorified life of celebrities and influencers is one of the leading causes of depression because many people believe that their glittering lives are real. Social media shows happy people all the time which is not possible as I see it. There are always ups and downs in a person's life.
Moreover, the downside of the advertising on social media is that people can be easily scammed. I have been scammed twice through social media advertising.
One of the major reasons why I think social media is bad is that even though it has connected people from afar, it has created a void between people who are even sitting together. In my own friends circle, most of the time my friends are lost in their social media accounts.
Thanks guys for your time and support. I hope you could relate to what I shared with you all. Do share your views and thoughts in the comments section below so that we can learn and grow together. Take care and have a great time ahead. Do not forget to follow my account for more such content and feel free to participate in the #weekend-engagement

Ish! I am sorry. Being scammed isn't something good. You are right that the media was made for people to connect but the way people use it now is just sad.
But I believe it isn't the media that is the problem but people who make use of it.
I agree that it is the user that gives meaning to social media usage. That's why we must choose to make the right choices as we surf the Cyber space
