Fallen leaves by Will Durant

How can it matter what price we pay for love?"

I am here today to share another book review with all of you. The book today that I am going to share is "Fall of Leaves" by Will Durant. No doubt, Will Durant was an amazing writer; he had a phenomenal way of expressing his thoughts, feelings, and wisdom through words, the way he expressed everything.

He has made me a fan of him. I am sure there are a lot of readers who have read the literature of Will Durant. I read this book on the recommendation of one of my teachers who taught me English for the exam, and she told me that the expression of Will Durant is so sublime that it would help you with your writing expression, making it more elaborate and comprehensive.

So many different things in this book, which comprises twenty-two short chapters, explores the themes of life stages, philosophy, morality, and human experiences at various levels. His role style in this book is so elegant and comprehensive. It also offers a very vivid and clear perspective in thought-provoking opinions.

Coming to my favourite lines from this book I would like to share a few lines which I really find striking and I really liked these lines from this book.

So Will Durant says, "Nothing learned from a book is worth anything until it is used and verified in life only then does it begin to affect behaviour and desire".

Another line that I really liked is "Let us ask the gods not for possessions but for things to do happiness is in making things rather than in consuming them".

This very simple line shows us about consumerism and how ethical the consumerism has to be this century.

I believe world has become one of consumerism where we all are consumers and in everyday lives we are always looking for things to consume in any form at any level.

If you ask me about my personal favourite chapter from this book, it is when Will Durant shares his wisdom on love and relationships.

His exact words are "even though it consumes us in its service and overwhelms us with tragedy, even though it breaks us down with separations, let it be first. How can it matter what price we pay for love?"

How amazing this simple line is that it does not matter what price we pay for love. Love is something very precious, something to hold on to and the price no matter how big it is we have to pay and it should not matter to us.

This simple line holds so much depth that I believe all the book readers should go through.

I would suggest you to read this book if you are willing to think, rethink and reflect on human history, philosophy, and mindset and conditions.

This book is overall an achievement, a masterpiece that we all as readers should go through and I would recommend it to everyone.

All of the members of this amazing community, thank you so much.
