She was Shot in Her Head

I was not ready to go to the market, but my friend said I must go with her. I only go with a little money that can be enough to buy a few items. My friend has this spirit of being curious. She always wants to know, even though you warn her to stop. To me, this is what I hate in my life. Being curious about things, to my little experience, could land you into what you are not expecting.

I followed her to the market while she started with her habit of unnecessarily pricing things. I tried to stop her, but the more I tried, the more she kept embarrassing me. I had wanted to leave her behind, but then, I never would have had the mind to come to the market if not for her. I only followed her down to the market. The shop we got to happened to be where she had always been pricing things without buying. She had been tagged with names in that particular shop. She saw rice loaded in the shop, but then she could not hold herself from pricing it. I tried to stop her, but out of curiosity, she went to the shop and started pricing rice. Although her aim of going to market was to buy two bags of rice. We had a customer we bought from, but that day, she told me that she would buy from the place that is cheaper instead. I tried to stop her, but then she was not ready to listen. She moved directly to the shop and started pricing. As she was talking, no one cared to answer her. She shouted at the peak of her voice, but no one attended to her. We left that shop shamefully.

We proceeded to another shop. I was warning my friend to keep her curious mind to herself and also to buy whatever she wanted to buy without asking too many questions, or else we would land ourselves in a pot of soup. She agreed to maintain herself just to stop the embarrassment. “Please, we should not bother to branch at this roadside where people are selling bags of rice. Remember, we did not know them that much,” I said quietly to her, but she insisted. “Let’s just price just to know the difference between our customers’ goods and theirs,” she said. She was ready to know the cost of everything. I still insisted that the best is for us to go to the person we had known before now, but her mind was just about the price. I did not stop her any longer but instead allowed her to carry out what her curiosity directed her to. I followed her, but without saying a word. She started pricing a bag of rice. Immediately, she heard the price, she looked at me with a happy look. She was so happy as she thought she had seen the rice at a cheaper price. She priced it further and also asked if the rice was foreign. “What would you expect the seller to say?”
I had warned her, but she did not listen to my warning. She later priced the bag of rice that originally sold for #70,000 at #59,000. She was excited and went for three bags. She asked me if I was going to buy, but I answered her “no” as I sensed something was not right.

She called a tricycle to help her carry the bags of rice as she made the payments. I was not happy with what she had bought, but then, her mind was already overtaken by her curiosity.

When we got home, I had gone to my shop before seeing my friend running profusely a few hours later. I was shocked to see her run that way, as this would be the first time running like this. I thought her house was on fire, but after running to me, she said, I wish I knew; I would have listened to you. I kept quiet for some minutes just for her to explain further. She said she had been duped. “What I saw was not foreign rice but rice filled with too many stones. No one would buy such rice from me,” she said as her heart, I guessed, was pounding. I told her I was not sure if those people would still be in the market, but she still said we should give it a try.

When we got there, we did not see any trace of their presence. They had gone and had gone with my friend’s money. I later told my friend, ”I hope you have seen what your curiosity has caused you.”

She lamented bitterly, but the money could not be brought back.

Excellent story. It's good to shop around and buy according to our budget but asking for too much discount or looking for something too cheap may not be good, as it happened to your friend.

Eyaa, I really feel for her.
It's just like Temu customers, they would happily purchase a Rolls-Royce for 300k, then later complain and call it a scam.
The money is a lot, definitely, but it isn't worth the item in question
Greetings!
