My Take On The Book "The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth" by John C Maxwell
While going through the first law, the law of intentionality, I got to know that even working hard does not guarantee your success, and when you are hoping for something, there is no way out. The first thing is to improve yourself before thinking of personal growth.
Maxwell gave an instance from personal experience, which I can also draw from what I'm facing today. I always think I can grow personally by hoping, not knowing that my hope would only remain stagnant if I did not rise to get what I wanted. Your challenges cannot be eradicated if you remain still, hoping that one day they will come to an end. It can only increase but can reduce when you move up to accept your immediate problem. Accepting them means finding a way out of them.
Just because someone has told you “it has been written about you that you will grow personally” does not mean you will grow; it means you have to rise and pave the way for that revelation to come to pass. That was the assumption gap, as said by Maxwell.
Something somehow can bring you to your real senses and make you begin to think of how to bring yourself towards achieving your growth. That was a knowledge gap, according to Maxwell.
Don't just say it's not the right time to grow because time passes and cannot wait for you. You own your life and know that personal growth can come at any time in your life. I was once waiting for the appropriate time to get married, a time when I had to gather money and have my flat and a good job. But after seeing that those things were not forthcoming, I decided that changed my life for the better. I stood up and got myself a woman that could be mine. I got married, and here I am with children. She is helping me to plan and to save. If not for her, I wouldn't have known how to save or to plan.
Maxwell talked in the second law, the law of awareness, about how we must know ourselves just to grow.
Growth always comes from knowing yourself in total.
So many people know what to do, but don't seem to do those things on time. They only doubt their abilities instead of doing what they are supposed to do at the right time.
Some do not know what to do, so they would remain stagnant without growing.
Some would know what to do and are experts. These people are truly the best.
Which one do you fall for? Do you know yourself in total?
Try to know yourself if you want to grow.
We all have a purpose in life, and that purpose must be achieved only if we know ourselves deeply. No one can just jump from the calendar and start to do things better without first discovering who he or she is. We all must identify our purpose in life to make better progress towards our personal growth.
Maxwell also talked about “the law of the mirror.” It means we have values deep in us, and until we see those values, we cannot grow.
Don't just sit in one spot, assuming you will grow, without seeing that value in you. Before you can add value to your life, ensure that you know what value you are to the world.
The fourth law here is “the law of reflection.” To be sincere, I always apply this law to my personal life. Anytime I see something that, I feel, would change my life, I must make sure to get home and do rethink my life. I will think of what I have seen deeply and how it can change my life positively.
He spoke in his book about the “law of consistency.” To be sincere, when you are consistent in whatever you are doing, you will find growth in it. A fading mind can only pave the way to your downfall. Most people do grow through motivation, but discipline is the mother of it all.
Max explicitly explained the “law of the environment.” I agreed with his explanations, as it has happened to me several times. When you know an environment does not favor you, you have to change it for the better. I think it can enhance your personal growth to the fullest, but most people seem to manage their immediate environment, hoping all will be well in due time, but that cannot help in personal growth.
The seventh law here is “the law of design.”.
At some points, I was wondering what this may look like, but after going through this law, I got to know that it is fine to design one's life just to move on to a better life. Designing it means planning how your life can be better because sitting and hoping cannot work.
John C. Maxwell made me laugh in this part of the book, “The Law of Pain.” Do you know that we can all learn from pain? That time that we felt unhappy and offended by someone—that time is the best time for you to step up and rethink how your life will be designed.
The ninth law, according to Maxwell, is “the law of the ladder.”.
No, you don't need to climb the ladder, but you need to mold yourself to your taste and to the taste of what you feel you want to become. This will enhance your growth. Character is one of those things to be put in place. When you have a bad character, you will not grow personally but will just keep hoping. Feeling too much of yourself can destroy your path to success, but bringing yourself down to the level people want to see you at will bring speedy growth to your life.
My thoughts about the author
I have read so many of John C. Maxwell's books and have always found his books so interesting. His books can change someone's life, if not everyone's. It can add value to people's lives. He wrote to touch the deepest part of one's life. He wrote to bring what was missing in people's lives back to normal.

I will recommend this book to everyone out there. Just try to read this book, and you will find things so easy and possible. It can bring out to thrive and thirst of mingling yourself to bring the best growth to your life.
Rating
I love this book 100%. The reason for doing this is because of how I have related it to my personal life. I got so many messages that could change my life for the better.
I think you can change something, or the book can change something in you.
Too often we are content to wait passively for things to happen, without understanding that personal growth requires action and commitment on our part. As you rightly point out, it is not enough for someone to tell us that we have the potential to grow - we must be the ones to take the necessary steps ourselves to make it happen. 👍
This is apparently a great book of self-knowledge and personal help, which shares valuable lessons, but the one that I take from your analysis is that we cannot be static people who simply wait for something to happen in life, on the contrary, we must take action so that what we want, happens in time.
