An Unhealthy Life Is A Package Of Disease

A healthy life is the best life, and a healthy environment is equivalent to a disease-free life. Most people tend to live in an environment that is not healthy. They live an unhealthy life, since such environments have been tagged as unhealthy.

Life without good health is not just a way of living but a way of killing or an invitation to gradual death.

One day, I happened to travel with my kids to see my elder sister, who lives in Ojo barracks. On our way, we saw many places in Lagos that were supposed to be uninhabitable. I saw people living in that environment, and this surprised me. They live in an environment filled with dirty water and dirty kinds of things. Everything in that environment is just dirty and does not fit any animal, not even humans. Seeing people living in such environments kept me in a state of confusion. I kept asking myself if they love it the way it is or if the people living there are animals in human form. I had to do a little research and came up with the conclusion that the cost of living in Lagos is high, and this made people live a life they don't deserve.

In the place I lived in, my landlord gave us an agreement letter that included making the environment as near as we could. He also stated in the agreement that there must never be rare chickens. All these, I knew, would make the environment unbearable for life. So, we always keep to his rules.

His wife has been a difficult woman who always controls the man. She kept putting an eye on a fault in us, but then the more she tried, the more she kept looking away as she was unable to see a fault in us. One day, she had to go to one of his relatives' houses and sleep overnight. The next day, she came back with three live Chicks.

She brought those chicks home, but then my husband said maybe she wanted to use them for something because she's that kind of native belief person. The chicks were caged for two weeks, after which they were released. We began to wonder about our landlord's agreement with us. My husband had to search again for the agreement just to see the reality, but then it was boldly stated in the agreement.

These fowls began to make the compound look unkempt. We told our landlord, but he said nothing. So, these fowls had been making the compound look unhealthy, most especially my surroundings. They would leave their owner's surroundings for mine.

Even with that, I still don't leave my surroundings unhealthy because health is wealth. When your surroundings are not well taken care of, disease can easily be passed.

There are different means of making our environment healthy. Among all are

Pollution:

We have different types of pollution, but the one common in my domain is air pollution. The waste we always place out there does bring out some unwanted odor. This odor can cause disease, which can in turn harm our health.

Waste management,

This is another area we must look into as we all gather waste in our various domains. We have this thing called an incinerator. We dispose of our waste in it and burn it inside. These days, the waste management bodies are not reaching our area and have increased their waste bills. So, disposing of waste has been a menace to me and others around my environment. My husband carries the waste to a place where the waste management bodies collect all the waste. We do store them until about two to three days before carrying them, and every so often, a week, since we hardly package a sack of waste products. Occasionally, we burn them to ashes.

My husband saw someone who threw pure water and nylon into the drainage. He told this girl that she must not try that habit. My husband tried to point out the reasons why we must not throw waste in the drainage, but she was still not getting it until a proper explanation was given to her.

So, we need the government to always have a talk show related to waste dumping. Our drainage is blocked today just because of a lack of good knowledge.
