A Big Secret

Sometimes we keep some secrets to save our relationship, no matter the gravity. So many people have fallen into this category and have come out to be successful, while some have fallen into some serious trouble.

When you yell a lie to defend your family without letting them know, it's not called a lie but somehow protection. I remembered when I was still a child, I broke my arm, and my mom had to use a substance to set my arm. I asked her to tell me the name of the substance, but she told me the opposite. I did not know, but the substance she used was so powerful that the extent did not hold me. She would have told me the truth about where she got that substance from, but just to save my life, she could not say the truth about where she got the substance from, just because of my dad. My dad would not accept the substance because he knew the place my mom got it from. My mom had to tell me the truth after years. She only said it to me when my child broke his arm. I did the same for not telling my husband.

Anyway, that's not what I have in mind.
My husband had already told me, right from the first day we met, that he hates borrowing money from online apps. He does not like the way they charge and their behavior towards calling the debtor. He had told me and made me understand that things like this can never work in his house. This had been the strong thing I had held in my heart ever since we got married. I had always seen the online loan apps as the big enemy one should or must avoid.

One day, to be precise, four years ago, my husband needed money to pay for his school fees, as he was running a part-time program. He searched all around just to get the money, but his efforts were just in vain. His best friend was in the best position to lend him the money but, instead, gave him advice to call his boss from where he was working. He took the advice and passed a call through to his boss.

The exam was to be written that same day, and it turned out to be impromptu. None of them were expecting the timetable to come that early. He had been schooled in the institution for three years, and he was in his final year. All these years of schooling, the school will first bring up and take a timetable just to scare students into paying their fees. My husband thought it was going to be the same way, but to his surprise, the exam was real.

He called his boss, but he was turned down as it turned out to be too impromptu. It was something his boss was not expecting, or else he would have given him the cash.

I looked around and searched critically to see if I could get someone to borrow the money from, but all my searches were just unfruitful.

I never allowed my husband to know about the loan just to save our relationship. I knew if he knew about it, it would be hot between us, as he detested taking a loan from the loaning apps. After giving the money to him, he asked me where I got the money from. I told him I borrowed it from one of my friends. I had talked to my friend to prepare her mind ahead of my husband, if my husband happened to ask her.

Up till today, and until I got the money paid, my husband was not aware of how I got the money.

At least I had saved him from some burdens.
